Reliable Connectivity Solutions
The "last mile" in telecommunications is the final leg of the telecommunications networks delivering services to end-users. More specifically, the last mile describes the portion of the telecommunications network chain that physically reaches the end-user's premises. Historically, the last mile has been the single most expensive portion of the network to build and maintain, and the most difficult to upgrade. The term "last mile" was originally coined by the telecommunications industry to refer to the copper wire and coaxial cable that connected the telephone company's central office to the customer's premises. Today, the landscape has changed dramatically. The last mile now includes fibre optics, fixed wireless, the Internet as a multimedia digital backbone, and ubiquitous mobile wireless access. Telephony is just one of many popular applications.
